Jul 01, 2015 Also, we noted that where the frame seam lined up was off from where Artec expected it to be. This gap prohibited the skid from seating fully to the frame. We had to use a grinder to remove material from the skid plate to better fit the frame seam. The frame seam did not line up to the spot on the skid. Keep removing aluminum and test fit.

Apr 05, 2016 My original plan was to go with Artec aluminum full belly pan protection. Its 1/4 plate with with recessed fasteners and Ill combine that system with their HD cross-member. The weight savings attracted me and I really like everything Artec I have bought before. But I started wondering what others thought about skid plate material.

Feb 15, 2017 Aluminum also works great because of it doesnt rust. It doesnt need to be continually maintained and painted after every trip just to keep it from falling apart. This is important because as a skid plate, its almost guaranteed to get scratched and because its under the Jeep, its generally hard to notice.
